I just spent about 40 minutes wandering around the Jersey City waterfront making time exposures of the skyline (with my Coolpix!). I wanted to blog something from the scene, but the Sidekick camera just doesn't work at night.

Looking for a subject to shoot close up, I decided to light some details of the Jersey City 9-11 Memorial with my LED flashlight. The memorial consists of several pieces of I-beam from the towers and a black granite monolith with the names of Jersey City citizens who died on that day.

The bright white light on torn metal gave me an eerie sense of what it must have felt like to be one of the rescuers digging through the rubble. But minus the toxic fumes and dust.
