Wired has an article about the business, operations and technology behind Dreamworks Animation. There are some great photos of the studio's super sophisticated virtual collaboration facilities. Boing Boing also mentions the article along with a link to more photos by Xeni Jardin.

This is great reading in advance of a talk that Harry Max, who runs the intranet at Dreamworks Animation, will give to our team at work later in July.
