The first four photos are of the area in Central Park near Central Park West (street) and 86th where the impressive Christo and Jeanne Claude "Gates" installation splits in two directions. The blue sky provides a stark contrast to the bright orange rip-stop nylon curtains. It's chilly out (maybe 32 degrees) with a gentle breeze that's animating (5) the 23 miles of curtained gates. One of the many volunteers for the project (8) was giving visitors background information, and lifted one of the Gates' plastic base covers to show the leveling mechanism.
