I did a double-take this afternoon when I saw an old Kaypro 4 in a neighbor's trashcan. This version of the Kaypro shipped in 1984 and was billed as a "transportable" computer. This was the same year the Macintosh was introduced. As you can see in the photos, the keyboard serves as a cover for the screen and disk drives. The Kaypro had a 4mhz Z80 processor with 64k of RAM and dual 5 1/4" floppy drives. The OS was C/PM. Not that I was going to drag this into the house after spending the afternoon carting junk out, but I was curious if it had any collector value. A search on eBay shows these are going for about $50. In the trashcan it stayed.
