Who IS The Yahoo! Person of the Year??? & Work-Related Stuff
Yahoo's Year In Review contains the Person of The Year designation as well. But how did they come up with Britney Spears as a nominee though? Interesting no I.T. type folks were nominated.

Two more days to go and I'll be off from work until next Thursday. Work has been kind of crazy-doing-stuff-on-the-fly type of stuff, but it's a welcome challenge and a break from the usual mundane tasks, plus I see these challenges as opportunites and room to expand my career horizons. We had a Work Environment Survey in April and we just got the results a week ago and had a meeting yesterday.

I thought our workgroup of 13 out of 17 would be more vocal about the survey results, but we were more laid back about it. I just guess we're vocal when management is not in earshot of these offline discussions. We made a comment about training where either you come back from training and do not have an opportunity to apply what was learned or either being so caught up in the day-to-day work/maintenance activities that there isn't time to attend training. The manager "quipped" that training is a one time shot, no do-overs in the event that you can't apply the training until many months later. Hopefully, he was joking because we haven't started any process planning for an expected Domino major upgrade in 1Q2004. .....thinking....flashback to "Spongebob Employee of the Month episode with accompanying review.

The lowest rated survey area was pay and performance but company wide and even in our workgroup people are satisfied with their jobs but the workload priorities are impacting people's job satisfaction. This is coming on the heels of the planning phase of the 2003 Performance Partnership Agreements that should be kicking off in Jan-Feb.
