Father and daughter bonding over unsweetened applesauce. She just loves the stuff. Since I have the flu today, I am chasing my sauce with NyQuill.

By chance, I wandered into the small Apple store in Bethesda, Maryland just now and discovered that they got some of the still hard-to-find 1 gig iPod Shuffles in a few hours ago. I'm still very happy with my mini, so I bought one for my wife. She's still using a first generation iPod and will appreciate wearing this little pick-me-up.

We stopped in our Baltimore house, but since we're not there much, there's nothing in the fridge (that's edible at least). So dinner and rest from the road was around the corner at Rocky Run. Cianna got a lot of hellos from the wait staff since many of them know her. She is saying words at the restaurant tonight like "cracker," "door," "cold," and "meow" when she heard the Meow Mix commercial from the bar TV. Now on to my mom's house for a good night's sleep so we can start another busy week tomorrow.

The first four photos are of the area in Central Park near Central Park West (street) and 86th where the impressive Christo and Jeanne Claude "Gates" installation splits in two directions. The blue sky provides a stark contrast to the bright orange rip-stop nylon curtains. It's chilly out (maybe 32 degrees) with a gentle breeze that's animating (5) the 23 miles of curtained gates. One of the many volunteers for the project (8) was giving visitors background information, and lifted one of the Gates' plastic base covers to show the leveling mechanism.

We came out of the Path Station (1) that now sits in the pit of Ground Zero (2). The hole in the ground is still impressive. A hike around Ground Zero brought us to the glass dome of Wintergarden Pavillion where I made some more portraits of Erica and Sam (3). Then a short cab ride brought us to the area of the MET where we had lunch at the Nectar of 82nd Street Diner (4 & 5). Next: photos of The Gates ...

After arriving in Jersey City, we made some warm-up photos of Erica and Sam (1). We admired Erica's nice plastic ducky collection (2 & 3), then went to dinner at La Conguita, which offers authentic spanish cuisine. I note here that Cianna loves both red and black bean soup (4 & 5). Tomorrow, we'll take a Path train over to the Wintergarden in Lower Manhattan to take some more photos. Looks like we'll also head uptown to Central Park to walk Christo's Gates.

The curiousLees are on the road again to visit Amy's cousin Erica and her fiance Sam. Amy has never been to their place, but I visited a couple years ago when I was working in Jersey City. I'm going to make an engagement portrait for them, and maybe we'll get into the City to see the Gates.
