![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I spent some time on our front porch today sweeping it clean and assembling cardboard storage boxes (2). Cianna had to watch from behind the screen door (1). Another task was to shred the boxes of paid bills we've accumulated over the years. We manage our finances totally electronically so no need to keep paper records long term. I replaced our underpowered shredder with a medium duty unit (3) from Staples that also destroys CD-ROM discs (4 - with fun crunching noise). Note to self: Keep ponytail away from shredder. I also finally picked up a new digital label maker. It's being used to create labels for all of the anonymous AC adapter "wall warts" we have for our gadgets (5). On an errand today that had me approaching the Baltimore skyline from I-95 south (6), I realized with some sadness that this scene won't be too common after we move. - mike lee - baltimore |

The bike in my last post (13071), turned out to be a Harley-Davidson WLA 1942 Military. About 90,000 produced during WWII. Though the bike embodied the ultimate in simplicity and reliability, the Jeep became the armed forces' utility vehicle of choice. Franlin Mint offers a nice scale model. - mike lee - baltimore |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I finally paused for a few minutes in our cafeteria this morning to try out the building-wide WiFi. It works very well with Rendezvous on my PowerBook (1). With our remote desktop capability, I can access anything I need on our network while roving around the building. I can fill out my timesheets anywhere--woo hoo! I also got an alert from eBay that I was the winning bid on the hard-to-find RFID-enabled toy, Ellie's Enchanted Garden Playset (2), which I can hack with Prof. Maeda's help to build a sensetable. At lunchtime, I spent a few minutes admiring our art department's Mini Ant Farm (3 & 4). It's fun watching the daily dramas that unfold in our very own ant society. I found myself a FAQ to read up on ant care. Now, I'm taking a moment to admire the pink snow of cherry blossom petals (5) in the park on the north side of the U.S. Capitol. The blossoming trees add some welcome color to the grey day. I'm off next to Union Station to rent a car for the weekend's house move operations. - mike lee - washington, dc |
