A numeric indicator is counting in tenths of a mile to the next turn when the phone will speak instructions. The nearest gas stations can also be displayed. Too bad traffic alerts aren't integrated into the service.

My friend Nam Ho took a lunch break from his busy work and travel schedule to tell me about the exploding internet culture in South Korea. The country's population is almost entirely on broadband internet with widespread use of ultra-sophisticated mobile devices.

He also showed me VZ Navigator, a GPS map and voice-prompt navigation service on his Verizon Razr phone. His phone spoke turn-by-turn directions as he drove from his office in Alexandria, VA to meet me for lunch at Rosa Mexicana by the MCI Center in D.C. I'm going to have my wife activate this on her LG V Cast Phone. At $10 a month, the service is way cheaper than a TomTom for casual use.

On our drive home from work this week, we couldn't help but notice the giant inflated shark fin hanging on the side of Discovery Communications Headquarters. According to the Washington Post Express blog, Discovery is promoting Shark Week. I hope the display stays up a while.

Cianna and I stopped into McDs after dropping mommy off at the subway station. Mommy starts her new job today. C got the new Pirates of the Caribbean treasure chest happy meal toy, and we did shots of milk. Woo hoo. Now we're off to pre-school.
