Seeing familiar faces at our company's Xmas Bowling Party at the AMF in Catonsville, MD. It was a fun-filled night of food and friends. - mike lee - new york and baltimore - curiouslee.com -----Original Attachments Unavailable----- |
| Saturday Book Thing Sat 12.14.02 12:06pm PST #2005 |
![]() ![]() ![]() We're doing our Saturday routine which includes a stop at The Book Thing in Baltimore. Book Thing is a simple idea: a place where you drop books off, and pick them up for free. We dropped off 20 more books and picked up a good feeling about the gesture. For a bit more on books and me, visit this archived post<.a>. - mike lee - new york and baltimore - curiouslee.com |

Welcome SJC... Responding to your first post where you ask about how people store SK accessories: I use a Lowepro DMC-V Neoprene Memory Wallet (from your Sidekick or desktop search "Lowepro DMC-V" in Google). While I'm sure this is far from a perfect solution, it works for me. The wallet is designed with four pockets inside to hold as many as eight Compact Flash cards. The two sides open in a V shape with two triangles of material open gaps of the V form so you don't spill your little pieces. I store my SK camera, phone earpiece, and three CF cards for my big digital camera. I usually just stick the case in a pocket, or you could attach it to your belt if you wear one. I picked my case up off a hook at CompUSA a while back for under $20. BTW, I responded to SJC's individual post by clicking on the #xxxx link in my SK web browser and then pressing MENU + M (read from May's sticker) to mail the complex url string to myself. Then I just hacked up that message to HN format and added a little HTML. You could also use this approach from the desktop to e-mail small bits of HTML (pre-tested!) to your SK Inbox to seed HN posts. - mike lee - new york and baltimore - curiouslee.com |

I just had a nice dinner at Sgarlato's at South Street Seaport with my wife's cousin Erica and her boyfriend Samir. We walked back to the Na href="http://www.nywaterway.com">Pier 11 ferry so they could get the boat back to their car on the Jersey side. Because they're interested in technology and we had 20 minutes to kill, I had to demo the Sidekick. I showed them the features and chatted by IM with my in-laws in Ohio, who were excited to know Erica and Samir were with me. I took their portrait and e-mailed it out to Ohio and several other addresses. And no demo is complete without blogging an entry to Hiptop Nation - mike lee - new york and baltimore - curiouslee.com -----Original Attachments Unavailable----- |

![]() ![]() ![]() Your intrepid web consultant just walked briskly past the New York Stock Exchange and ended up at The China Chalet on 47 Broadway. After my shrimp lobster combo, it's back to the hotel to start the snow watch. - mike lee - new york and baltimore - curiouslee.com |
| Salon so good Tue 12.03.02 8:45pm PST #1716 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My brain feels warm and fuzzy from hosting a salon of NY information architects in my hotel room tonight. We started with a video clip of Douglas Engelbart's 1968 demo of the computer mouse which launched a full evening of discussion. It was an evening of intellectual fellowship and part of my ongoing quest to meet like-minded folks here in the city. - mike lee - new york and baltimore - curiouslee.com |
| Some passion in passing Sun 12.01.02 5:07pm PST #1664 |
Once again, having my Sidekick out sparked a long conversation with a fellow train rider. It turns out my companion to Philly (on my way to NY) was a rollercoaster buff who maintains his own small web site Kurt's Rollercoaster Club USA Online. I showed Kurt his pages on the Sidekick, and that brought up some interesting stories about his coaster encounters. I e-mailed him a link to the May 2001 archive page curiouslee where I have a couple photos of coasters at Six Flags. I thoroughly enjoy talking to people who have a passion for anything--no matter how offbeat. Passion is a rare thing in this world and it's a kind of energy that can be infectious if you let it. 90 minutes to New York Penn... - mike lee - new york and baltimore - curiouslee.com |
