What a contrast. As The Grammys enter a third hour up above in Madison Square Garden, down below on the Amtrak concourse, the police have been shadowing several dozen homeless people who have taken refuge from the nearby streets. All but one entrance have been closed due to all the added security, satellite trucks and limos. This evening is no different for the street people except they get to warm up for a while.

These two were lip-locked for 40 minutes in the Penn Station concourse and practically all the way down to the platform. Here they are about to pry themselves apart as the Acela Regional pulls up. She's getting on board. He's staying. Love transcends distance once again.

I just a chance to see live video of the barge explosion on Statten Island. Makes one very nervous when someone walks into a meeting and says "there was just an explosion."

From the ferry this morning, the misty backlit Brooklyn skyline doesn't look much different from what river boat passengers saw in the 1930s. Lower Manhattan, however, is radically different, even without The Twin Towers.

It was a glorious, sunny 50 degrees today when I went out on the promenade by Colgate Exchange Place in Jersey City. While Monday's blizzard was amazing, I'm happy that the snow is melting quickly and so looking forward to spring.

I hopped out of the cab a few blocks away from the hotel because NY Sanitation was doing the last of the cleanup of the side streets in the financial district.

I dodged hydrualic shovels and dump trucks along Pine Street wielding my Sidekick for photos. The hotel's desk clerk--who was just getting off her shift--startled me in the middle of making a photo by saying "Hi Mr. Lee!"

The sidewalks for the most part were cleaned off--wouldn't want a broker to get his expensive shoes dirty...
