Catching up on my blog reading here on the commuter train, I see that my moblogging has recently been mentioned in Alan Reiter's excellent Camera Phone Report in a piece titled Camera phone photos as art: What do you think? The post links to some great sites, and hopefully describes what will become a recognized artform.

... dealing with the insatiably hungry baby, eating shrimp Pad Thai, reviewing the operations budget from work, and feeding the great white sphincter.

The Wee Lee had her first checkup today through which she screamed bloody murder. Doc says she's perfect and showing a 1 lb. weight gain from the day she left the hospital. Now we are planning the logistics of the baby's multi-city, multi-family holiday tour.

My wife kindly sends me mobile-to-mobile phonecam images of life at home with baby. They are a treat as I've returned to work in order to keep Baby Cianna swaddled in Pampers. Here's a photo of the arrival of our little girl's Social Security card. She's not even two weeks old and the government has stamped a number on our child. Welcome to the world baby.

... continues here in downtown Baltimore. At 4:33 am local time, it's 28 degrees outside with winds blowing out of the north at 10-15 mph. Our accumulation looks like 3" so far. This is a picturesque amount of snow.

My inlaws are driving from western Ohio to meet our baby, but are stopped at a hotel in eastern Pennsylvania for the night. They've got a long, messy drive ahead of them this morning.

Someone noted that this is our baby's first encounter with the white of snow, but she's oblivious. The only white she cares about is momma's milk.

In the life of just over a week ago, I would have been going to CompUSA for a special cable or Home Depot for wall anchors. Tonight I open my wallet for Babies 'R Us. Aside from a fun Sassy toy for Cianna, I'm picking up a BabyBijorn so we can mount the kid to our chest while we move around the house or walk the dog. I also had the pleasure of walking up to the register with the AVENT ISIS Breast Pump which symbolizes the alarming amount I've learned about breastfeeding technology. I learn from the AVENT box copy that one uses the pump to "express" the milk into the bottles by means of a unique silicone diaphragm which works in concert with five petal shaped massagers to collect the milk in the bottle. Babies apparently use the same sucking technique when feeding from the AVENT bottle as they do when feeding at the breast and they happily switch between the two. Of course.

Cianna is fascinated by the shiny camera module on my Sidekick. It seems to make her drowsy. I just need to make sure she doesn't think the camera is her daddy.

I'm practicing the art of juggling a sleeping baby and laptop while catching up on e-mails. I just need to make sure she doesn't throw up on the keyboard!

A first newborn child sleeping in one's arms is quite possibly the beautiful feeling in the world.

This little one has melted daddy's heart.
