It's nice getting baby pictures from my wife while I'm traveling away from home. Today my wife and sister-in-law went shopping for our baby's three-month birthday. This is one of their gifts to baby.

The conference's luncheon entre of grilled salmon and a creatively-stacked vegetable cous cous salad was pleasant. Unfortunately, this phonecam image doesn't do justice to the chef's creation. The conversation was stimulating with attendees from IBM, Disney, and Microsoft at our table.

Now I'm watching my man Victor give his presentation on incorporating research in designing the navigation of web sites.

About 50 of us wound down the pre-conference day at the funky Club DeVille. The bar tickets were provided by the partners of Adaptive Path, a user experience consultancy celebrating its third anniversary. Lots of good conversation in the club's patio warmed the chilly night. Now to bed to shake my buzz so that I can make the 8:30am keynote speech.

About thirty of us converged on the Ironworks Barbeque after the conference's opening reception. I had a nice basic sliced beef sandwich with BBQ sauce. Now I'm heading over to Club DeVille for a private party being held by a consultancy.

On the ramp coming off the plane, I heard a lady say how we'll all be in trouble if George Bush doesn't get elected again. She said anyone who doesn't like Bush can just leave the country and go to Mexico or Canada. Nice welcome to the cowboy capital of the world.

Our baby girl still doesn't react much to being kissed, but we're sure it must be comforting. This morning, the baby smiled when I kissed my wife goodbye before leaving for work. I kissed my wife again, and the baby smiled again and wiggled her toes. I suspect this is the beginning of a vast Mother-Daughter Conspiracy.
