I'm on a viewing platform overlooking the Museum of Science and Industry's new "U-505 Experience" under contruction. The U-505 is a German submarine (in the first photo wrapped in white tarps due to rain) captured in 1944 that is being restored with a new 35,000 square foot underground museum being built around it. The artist's concept looks impressive. A staffer says the new extension to the museum will open spring 2005.

We pick up our baby in an hour and head home. Tonight I pack for tomorrow's trip to Chicago. Then off to West Virginia for a family reunion and then Boston early next week. Gee, in the last few minutes of the film, the massive storm that covered most of the US cleared almost instantly so that the climatologist could finish the hike from Philadelphia to NY to rescue his son, who was doing fine anyway. Then the Vice President went on the Weather Channel to thank the third world for hosting American refugees. Riiiight...
