| Observing Tests Again Thu 08.05.04 5:41am PDT #9915 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We're testing another web site prototype again today in a lab in Silver Springs, MD. I've stopped in with baby to say "hi" and grab a cup of coffee. Baby liked checking out the video control console and wanted to pound on all of the buttons. We resisted. Mommy is staying all day, and I'm taking baby to Grandma's house and then heading in to our D.C. office. - mike lee - |

| The Great Trixie Little Mon 08.02.04 7:56pm PDT #9904 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I had a great second meeting at the studio of Keri Burneston, who is a local burlesque performer who goes by the stage name of Trixie Little (work safe link). I'm going to photograph her in various costumes one night next week. Keri promotes Trixie Little as a "burlesque superhero," and her boyfriend Adam performs alongside as The Evil Tap Dancing Hate Monkey. Their act, which I haven't seen yet, is described as a risque blend of trapeze, tap dance and comedy where the focus is on tease not sleaze. I'm excited to work with her as I've never had the privilege of photographing another artist's elaborate fantasy world. In addition to the 6 foot pink rocket pictured here, and an array of costumes and props, there's a giant volcano! I'll try to post from the shoot next week. - mike lee - baltimore |
| Animal Rubber Bands Mon 08.02.04 4:16pm PDT #9902 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() These nifty +d Animal Rubber Bands came from the gift shop of the National Building Museum. They come in a boxed set of 24 in the colorfull shapes of little giraffes, rhinos, kangaroos, elephants, ostriches and hippos. Though obviously a fanciful and fun product for the pleasure of the purchaser, I had hoped that the unique rubber bands would also give a moment of delight to anyone pulling the band off a roll of papers. Alas not, because as you can see in the last photo, the rubber band pops off into an undelightful knot. The designer's cleverness goes unnoticed in the end. The rubber bands got mentioned in BoingBoing and they can be ordered on Amazon for less than what I paid for them. - mike lee - washington, dc |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We're here at eieio, a kid stuff consignment store in Hampden. I call it the Crack Store for Mommies. We bought a new umbrella stroller, Lisa Matthews' Milkshake CD and a mink teddy (bear). It's no small coincidence that we just rented a 10x10' closet that the self storage space a few doors away. - mike lee - baltimore |
