![]() ![]() ![]() John just showed me the very first copies of his new book Creative Code. The book is essentially a yearbook of the last eight years of his students' work. Then a new student, Burak Arikan, from Istanbul, Turkey, showed me the wireframe sketches he's developing of the new user interface for Treehouse Studio 2.0. - mike lee - cambridge, ma |

| Bond Street Wharf Sun 08.29.04 6:55pm PDT #10148 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We walked around the newly-opened Bond Street Wharf tonight just after sunset. The headquaters of the architectural firm RTKL (they are designing the Olympic Park for the 2006 Olympics in Beijing) takes up most of the area. This is just a post of scouting photos to remind myself to come back here at sunrise or sunset to photograph a model. - mike lee - at baltimore's fell's point |
| 20-year-old Trash Sun 08.29.04 5:27pm PDT #10147 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I did a double-take this afternoon when I saw an old Kaypro 4 in a neighbor's trashcan. This version of the Kaypro shipped in 1984 and was billed as a "transportable" computer. This was the same year the Macintosh was introduced. As you can see in the photos, the keyboard serves as a cover for the screen and disk drives. The Kaypro had a 4mhz Z80 processor with 64k of RAM and dual 5 1/4" floppy drives. The OS was C/PM. Not that I was going to drag this into the house after spending the afternoon carting junk out, but I was curious if it had any collector value. A search on eBay shows these are going for about $50. In the trashcan it stayed. - mike lee - baltimore |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I had ribs and Killians for my birthday dinner tonight at the Corner Stable. Tomorrow night, when we have a babysitter, we'll probably go to one of the fancier places in Baltimore. - mike lee - baltimore |
| Carpenter's House Sat 08.28.04 8:19am PDT #10132 |
![]() ![]() ![]() The first house we toured was a small cottage significantly modified over 22 years by a master carpenter. Features include giant 10-foot-deep front and back porches. In the back there's hut tub and gazebo. There is already cable modem, but no covenants means a satellite dish is doable. The house has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, new kitchen, fireplace, central air, Andersen windows and sits in the middle of six acres of land, which includes a 14-foot-deep pond! Asking price: $650,000! - mike lee - dunkirk, md |
