Well, not too many shots of dinner, but plenty of shots of downtown Houston.

Got this one to replace my soaked C-5060, which was unfortunately ruined when I fell into a pool in Cancun. Basically, the C-7070 is exactly the same as the C-5060, except it's 7.1MP, has a min aperture of f11 and is $100 less than I paid for my 5060. =/ It's an excellent camera, and it's an amazing camera for $350!

One of the cooler purchases I've made in a while. I was wandering about a Leslie's pool store when I found their clearance rack. There they had the SafeSun Classic, a personal UV meter. Enter your skin type and SPF of whatever sunscreen you are wearing and take it out into the sun with you. It measures intensity of the UV and beeps when you need to get out of the sun. It also has a setting for no sunscreen also, if you are trying to prevent a burn. It will also tell you in hours and minutes, how much time you've got left....or it will recalculate if you put a higher grade SPF on.

Neat stuff....and an incredible price on clearance. Originally $99, on sale for $9! That's not a typo, it was nine dollars!

Why buy high-priced alkalinity increaser at the pool store when baking soda is the same stuff and the instructions for use are right on the bag?

My folks gave me an old pressure coffeemaker. I don't think they ever used it. I decided to fire it up and lo and behold, it works!

Convenient, right by work. $1 overnight rentals. I may have to give this a shot.

I just love how they put a huge sticker on every table, just in case you didn't see the huge machine when you walked in.

New lighting over the kitchen sink

The only spot we were lacking light was over the kitchen sink. There's no access for wiring over the sink, so the only solution was a cable suspended lighting system. When I put in the new backsplash, I rewired the switchbox to add an extra circuit and ran wires up the wall into the top cabinet. I figured I'd have to put a lighting transformer up there and I sure did with this setup. Got the whole thing from Ikea. It wasn't expensive, is well designed and looks really cool!

Now I can know the pH of my pool with far more accuracy than I have ability to adjust it! ;)
