Well got my replacement MP3 player, it works just like it's supposed to. However, I made an interesting discovery: I don't think the original unit they shipped me was new!

This one was shrink-wrapped like the other one, but this one had an internal sealed package that had to be cut open with scissors. This one also had adapters for europe and england that the other one didn't. Seems to me like they sent me repackaged garbage!

Yep, Comp-U-Plus should be Comp-U-Suck, because they totally suck.

New wall color

Comp-U-Plus update
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayWell, they shipped me out a replacement unit 24 hrs after the received it. Ground.

Nice going, Comp-U-Plus! You've now officially moved into the "SUCK" category. Not only that, but my posting here will hopefully move you into the "SUCK" category for everyone else who reads here.

Freaking idiots.

I generally dislike Best Buy, but they do have good sales, and this gives me a chance to be a Demon Shopper and swoop in, buy the sale merchandise and leave. Muaaaahahahahaha. . Anyway, I digress. . . Superbit DVDs on unadvertised sale for $9.99. Get 'em before Best Buy realizes you are stealing their profits! I only picked up one, The Fifth Element.

So I ordered an Archos GMini 220 from Comp-U-Plus . Got a great price, but they shipped me a broken player. Not their fault, it was a totally factory sealed package. Called archos, they confirmed the device was inop. Basically everything worked except the USB portion. I called comp-u-plus and proceeded to get screwed. How you may ask? Let me count the ways:

1. I get sent a broken device 2. I have to ship it back at MY cost (which they will not reimburse) 3. They ship it back to me ground EVEN WHEN I ORDERED IT 2ND DAY SERVICE

So, this has me pretty steamed, especially since this was through no fault of my own. I wrote them a note to this effect and included it with the rma paperwork. If they choose to ignore it, that's fine. They may get my money this time, but they won't get it again.

However, I must say that their online ordering is very good. it handled a split shipping/billing easily. They give you frequent email updates on the status of your order. Their shipping is lightning fast. It's a shame all of that is wrecked by their stupid policies.

I'll post an update as it happens.

Thanks, Div for getting me hooked on this. :P I now have the weather, moon phase, a unix-like touch command, local radar, gorgy clock, hula girl (woo hoo!) calendar, magic 8 ball (absolutely necessary for my line of work), cpu load, memory load, battery charge and not pictured is another one that moves widgets from my desktop into the proper folder.

And yep, I'm looking for more!

Holy smokes, do they really have to bury them in so deep? This one is located under the touchpad, which requires dissassembling the keyboard and wrist rest to get to it.

Also pictured in the last shot is where the "other" memory card is located. In the T40, only one memory slot is accessable without taking the case apart.

So this took forever. Popped the down arrow key loose, which was a pain to get back on, whups. Reassembled the whole thing. Then when I powered it back on, it wouldn't boot because of the "illegal card" that was installed....

So, take it apart again so I can boot and reflash bios, then reinstall card, software and TEST before screwing it back togedder.

Oy.

I wish I did this for a living. ;)
