After playing with Shaun's F1 car and his Traxxas EMAXX truck, I was reminded of how much I missed the R/C hobby. Soooooo, I set out to find a good used one. Initially I thought gas was what I wanted, but that would be kinda loud to run around a campsite...but it didn't have the charging problems of electric. I went back and forth, but I decided on a gas 4wd buggy/truck.

Enter the swapmeet!

A guy I was dealing with online didn't seem too interested in selling his gas buggy, so I was already looking elsewhere. I went to the swap meet with high hopes and was rewarded! I found a AE RC10, with battery, radio, spare set of tires and charger for $60! What a deal! Steering servo is thrashed, but I'm planning on getting an electronic speed control, which means I can swap out the servos and be good to go. Meanwhile, it's still drivable. First picture is the car I got.

Well we are all ok, including the house and surounding grounds. Still pretty gusty outside, and occasional sprinkles. Only casualty was a dead tree branch that got blown down across the street. Also pictured are the two webcams that got hits from all over the world including:

Probably a few others that I missed. We had over 200 clients yesterday, which is pretty amazing considering we really didn't distribute the url much at all. Googling for "hurricane rita webcam" brings us up as the #2 hit. Pretty neat and scary all at once. ;)
