@ The Orthodontist Office & Rip Van Winkle Is In My Kitchen Wed 06.25.03 10:40pm PDT #5110 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Took DramaKween to orthodontist. Hopefully, she'll only have two more visits and will be done for the next 6 months. She's been bugging about getting her braces debanded. It seems like time has flown since getting her braces 2 years ago, but for her it has seemed like forever. She inherited her Mom's teeth...which is not a good thing. I was hoping that my CSK camera attachment would have arrived to take some better shots of the orthontist's office/equipment. Their office is very, very kid friendly. They always have a theme of the month. Since it's summer, they went with a tropical theme - leis, hats, fishes, etc. all over the office In April, they had an easter egg hunt at a local park for all of their patients. They also have an internet cafe with two PCs with games. I was assumikng that DramaKween only had to wear an upper retainer, but found out she needs a lower retainer also. The doctor's office is now offering family members of patients for records (x-rays, etc.) taken free of charge to break in/show off their latest piece of equipment that takes x-rays without the harmful radiation and doesn't use film. DramaKween's next appointment will consist of debanding and retainer fitted. It will be a 1/2 day ordeal and I've been trying to tell her that although she won't be as "wired" with as much hardware, her mouth will be s-o-r-e and have stockpile of Tylenol on hand ;) HorseAGoGo (aka Hubby) was helping DramaKween with her first day of summer school homework tonight. Like clockwork he morphed into Rip Van Winkle'ism as "caught on film". DramaKween and I could barely contain ourselves as she took the pics. - Bad Wifey, Bad Daughter ;) - BustAGroove's HipLOGraphy // Sidekick On Sale or S.O.S. // Home Weather // Vacation Weather |
(Take Two) Split Decision on Affirmative Action Mon 06.23.03 8:26am PDT #5061 |
![]() * There is nothing in the news article which indicates when the decision would go into effect for the college admissions process. I think this decision is especially critical in California due to the massive state budget shortfall where all public services (education, health, community) services have been cut back. Excerpt from -Full Story- ""In 1978, .....[Justice] Stevens suggested that blacks would not need preferences much longer. But Justice Thurgood Marshall, the first black justice in the court’s history, disagreed, saying preferences would be needed for another hundred years. “This remark left Powell speechless,” according to Jeffries. He “recoiled from the prospect of generation upon generation of racial quotas.” BustAGroove's HipLoGraphy // Sidekick On Sale or S.O.S. |

Gurlz Day Out Sun 06.22.03 11:38pm PDT #5055 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It was another semi-drizzly day on the second day of summer. We saw Finding Nemo. The colors of the ocean and sea life were unbelievably vivid and detailed. The beginning of the movie may have scared some younger kids. At first JigNeNe said she didn't think she'd like the movie because it seemed scary because of what happened to Nemo's mom. Nemo's Dad, Marlin was always in peril on the journey to find his son. We liked the part of the movie when Marlin and Dorrie were in the Austrailian waters and hanging out with the sea turtles. I can see kids during the summer months quoting lines from that movie when they are hanging out. I could relate to Dorrie's character on a semi-personal level -- she couldn't remember whether she had any immediate family - mother/father/siblings and she admitted that she suffered from short term memory loss -- like on the days when you can't find your house keys and someone else walks right over and finds them instantly. Back to Finding Nemo -- I think it will be a huge seller when it goes to DVD. DramaKween also said she wouldn't mind seeing it again. Looking forward to the Looney Toones Live action movie with Steve Martin and Jenna Elfman. The preview had a Who Framed Roger Rabbit feel to it. I remember how crazy I was about WFRR, and ended up buying the bug-eyed floppy earred house shoes and then rented the full WFRR costume "many" years ago for an office party. After Finding Nemo, we had a toss up between GameWorks & Nickel-Nickel. I lost so we went N-N. Whenever we go to N-N there's always a handful games that are "out of order" Most of the games require nickels except for two rows of games near the back of the game center -- which are freebies. I played Tetris Plus but the game was defective depending on what level you started out with, it got stuck at level five. There was also another game called Columns which is a lot like Bejeweled. I didn't do very good at Ms. PacMan. The gurlz gravitate towards the games that dispense tickets. Afterwards we went to Coco's for pie and then we went home. Oh Yeah!! I got the CSK this past Saturday. I've been scoping the pics on HN with pics taken with the *new* camera, especially those taken by MLee of the Farmer's Market. Well, I've taken up enough bandwith for now .... it's a shame that tomorrow is back to the ole' grind. BustAGroove's HipLoGraphy |
hey keithwj... Sat 06.21.03 1:21pm PDT #5031 |
It's my daughter's 8th birthday today and she wants a Spongebob cake too. How old is your nephew? It's the first day of summmer and longest day of the year and it's overcast, drizzly and 70 degrees in So. California. This is the first time I think the weather's been like this in years. We're postponing Disneyland until next weekend. Instead, Dad & JigNeNe aka Birthday Girl are going toy/clothes shopping. Birthday Greetings from the HN Crew to your nephew, keithwj!! 100 Best Places to Work in IT Mon 06.16.03 5:02pm PDT #4938 |
My company (again) ranked in "Computerworld's 100 Best Places to Work In IT". This is the first time I've worked for a company where the CIO-Sr. VP is female. It'll be interesting to see how being "one of the best" will affect my company's IT business unit results sharing for 2003. Entire Article |
