....shhh...be quiet you're in the library Mon 12.16.02 9:14pm PST #2057 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, the Sidekick gets zilch as far as any type of signal at the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library. DramaKween took a mini-SAT this weekend and did not do too well...we don't knock her about it this time around because she'll be a freshman next year...just trying to prep her for the college-bound road ahead. The book on Germany is for her history report due at the beginning of 2003. She also picked some "light" reading from the Left Behind Kids' (books 15-17)series. She's read the previous books and enjoys them. I've read the adult series up until Desecration....those books are very hard to put down. As soon as I finished reading one book, I was at Barnes & Noble to get the next one...staying up past 1 a.m. to get to the end. This was all before the events of 9/11. For Christmas break, Dramakween will be cramming for the SATs in January. If she does well, we're hoping that she can become more involved in the academic talent search at UCI. Of course, we got the "rainy" day/Christmas school break games: Lilo & Stitch, Shrek, Rollercoaster Tycoon2, Monopoly Tycoon, Barbie Secret Agent....the CD-RW is working overtime. The front desk librarians are not reminescent of the librarians of yesterday before widespread use of technology now found in today's libraries. I had to ante up for some hefty fines and she wouldn't give me a price break...but I know that my tax $$ are being put to very good use. Well, it's re-run Everwood night but 7th Heaven was a new episode. We're in for a lot of rain this week. I opted to hang out at the library with DramaKween instead of with my work-related counterparts at Dave & Busters tonight. 'O Christmas Tree... Fri 12.13.02 8:05pm PST #1992 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are a few snapshots of the Christmas tree that I took after work today. When hubby dropped off JigNeNe @ my job, we walked back up the courtyard so that she could check it out. She thought it was neat and really big. On an action-packed note, the sequel, The Matrix: Reloaded to one of my all-time fave movies, The Matrix is coming out on May 15th....we should have a blog-a-thon theme related party or something. Do you know anyone who did NOT like The Matrix??? Looks like Mrs. Will Smith is in the sequel. The Matrix: Reloaded has a Quicktime "ultra trailer" = 68.2MB (WHOA!! took me about 15 mins. to download on my hme DSL connection) that plays for less than two minutes. There's also an exclusive-before-hitting-the-theatres trailer for the X-Men sequel. BustAGroove via SideKick AIM: BustAGrooove My Wish For You Today |
Winter-less Wonderland Fri 12.13.02 4:29pm PST #1989 |
Two co-workers from my workgoup & myself just came back from helping the company usher in the holiday season in the courtyard area. The CEO/chairman of the parent company gave his holiday wishes and thanks for all the hard work of its employees on behalf of subsidiaries. The company was on the verge of bankrupcty & it all came to a head about 2 days before I converted from a contractor to a full-time employee 2 years ago. We've been given a clean bill of health & have been profitable this year. The CEO & the president of the affiliate where I work also gave their thanks and flipped the switch to light the tree that the company saved from disaster in Big Creek back in 1991. We were entertained by the company's 10 person chorale, and shared seasonal beverages and cookies. I only took one picture because I was having a hard time holding the styrofoam cup of hot, steaming apple cider. It's like 65-70 degrees outside. Even more holiday festivites on the horizon....my business unit, Computing Services is having its' holiday celebration @ Dave & Buster's next Tuesday...roster of activities: buffett luncheon, billiards, shuffle board, video games and best of all "time to socialize with our colleagues". The other picture is the HipTop "big head" logo from the shirt I got as as a prize from Team Raven's victorious outcome in the Scavenger Hunt. |

Be Gone Bad Hair Days Fri 12.13.02 7:10am PST #1970 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After over a year of wearing wigs with different style cuts, I took the plunge last night and got a new but -recycled- 'do like I used to wear a few years back. You may recall the days of the Care Free Curl like they used to wear in Hollywood Shuffle...do you remember Keenan Ivory Wayans character who had a Jheri curl and walked around with a Jheri curl spray bottle constantly spraying his hair leaving slippery puddle for someone else to slipe and slide on...I think the funniest part of that was when his hair starting drying out...LOL Well, my hair isn't nearly as long as that character's and gone are the days of the "drip, drip, wet look". My coworkers are going to be in for a surprise since I haven't worn my hair semi-au naturale since I moved to this department a year ago. The hair stylist tried to talk me out of getting a semi-permanent coloring....what was she thinking??? as I have more strands of gray as I get older....maybe it was because it was past 10 pm and she was getting tired, I don't know. It's going to be cool going around without the itchiness of wearing of wigs (sigh of relief). DramaKween also got a new 'do and she looks quite lovely like in Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely?" fame :) The pictures are of the Airwick Drew Hair Salon and of one of the patrons where the transformations took place. Our hair stylist and shop owner, Deborach Bostick has had a few write ups in our local paper, Inland Empire's Daily Bulletin and various other civic and religous awards. It was nice going to a shop that wasn't playing hard core, bump & grind type loud music....the music was along the genre of the classics of the "old school and today's R&B" called HOT 92.3. I was AIMing w/my cousin for a bit while sitting under the hair dryer and also got a chance to demo the Sidekick to Deborah. She thought it was cool, OF COURSE :) We departed close to midnight. Caffeine Wake-Up Call Wed 12.11.02 9:02pm PST #1941 |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Have you ever had one of those mornings where the traffic is c-r-a-w-l-i-n-g so badly on the way to work that you start getting exhausted/sleepy from the constant inching along the freeway...well, that was the morning I had today..so what was I to do, except stop at *$s = StarBucks for a Gingerbread latte. When I standing in line the guy in front of me asked, "Hey what's that you got there...is that a PDA?? I said it's a Sidekick and flipped through some of the things it could do". He said "Oh, that's really cool...I heard of those"....he was real impressed by the little turquoise colored camera. So I get my Gingerbread latte and lemon budnt cake but the latte was weak so they kicked it up a bit for me. So, I go to the front of the store to see if there's logo for the T-Mobile Hotspot and it wasn't there....so you mean I can't stop about .5 away from work to get to the Hotspot??? This is the only store I've been to that doesn't have the Hotspot. The folks who "protect and serve" the Rosemead were sitting outside drinking coffee and another was in to squad car but the car wouldn't star. The other picture is my namesake...not often that I see my name in lights...'specially attributed to fashion.... BustAGroove via SideKick AIM: BustAGrooove My Wish For You Today |

Breaking The Mold Fri 11.29.02 5:28pm PST #1632 |
I got some exciting news from my 2nd cousin who is graduating high school next June. She received her acceptance for admission into Duke University's Pre-Med program next year. She'd rather stay in CA to go to school though. Her mom (my 1st cousin) and I are very proud of her.....as folks from our side of the family are not historically motivated to pursue higher education. Me & the girls are heading over their house for a Girls Night Out of watching videos & eating pizza....should be fun. BustAGroove via SideKick AIM: BustAGrooove My Wish For You Today |
