Once again.

For the record.

Team Raven ROCKS!

Err. Rocked?

Just received my new hiptop case, and it is sweet. Midnight Black with Halloween Hiptop Hunt Orange trim.

I hope everyone had a great Turkey Day, and that all of your friends and family members are receiving Hiptops for Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa/Yakxmas/Frito Day or anything else you can think of.

I am about to leave Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I was here all week doing training on some new software.

Oklahoma City was nice. I was here with a coworker, so I showed her around the city. I have a lot of family here, so I am somewhat familiar with the area.

We made it to the memorial for the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. That is a beautiful memorial. If anyone is ever in Oklahoma City, you should definitely see it.

We also ate at Johnnies and Tapwerks. Johnnies is the restaurant I have to go to every time I come here. It's kind of an all American dinner place with great grill items, big servings, and a family atmosphere. Tapwerks is a beer joint in Bricktown, which is the renovated commercial area of downtown OKC.

But now, it's back to beautiful Austin. After a day in Kansas City, three days in North Carolina, and five days in OKC, I am definitely ready to go home. (all though I really wouldn't mind going back to Chapel Hill...see previous posts).

So now the captain is backing away from the gate, en route for a 36 minute flight to DFW. The airplane is a twin turbo prop with three seats across on each row. That is not a typo. There are three seats across on ten rows. That's thirty people. How they make money on this, I have no idea. This is a tiny plane (for flying commercial). I should also mentionthat this is the hardest plane seat I have ever been in.

UP UP AND AWAY!

I'm in Oklahoma City this week, training on acoustical software.

These are pictures of the classroom we're in. It's a pretty fun group of people. Lots of laughs.

We're learning to use a software program called EASE. It's pretty crazy stuff. After modeling a space (i.e. A room, hall, church, stadium, etc.), you can analyze everything from speaker coverage (at a given frequency) to reverberation time. You can also render your room in 3d. God, I love computers.

Check ya later!

Leaving Ralieg-Durham Airport now. After a wonderful (albeit too short) weekend in North Carolina, it's back to the grind. I'l be in Oklahoma City all this week, learning some new software for acoustical analysis. Hopefully I won't be roaming there.

Hope everyone had a great weekend, and caught whatever games they were excited about.

OU lost to A&M! Exciting! Can't wait to see the polls tomorrow. UT may have a good chance at a good bowl after all.

Notre Dame was close, but they pulled it off. Go Irish!

Time for Blast Off!

We just went to the botanical gardens at Duke. Kristy goes to UNC in Chapel Hill, so we were about ten minutes away.

This is a picture of a really big, really old church at the university. I would give more details, but there was a wedding inside at the time, so I don't know any more details.

Anyhow, we're off to have my birthday dinner now.

BTW-I had to turn my data roaming on to get service here. Should I be afraid. I guess I'll probably be charged per MB, but I'm not really sure.

Anyhow, I'll start posting some more from the plane flights tomorrow.

The botanical gardens were gorgeous.

this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayI'm sitting in an airport bar now, drinking a red stripe, listening to bruce springsteen, and waiting for the final flight of the night.

I'l be in North Carolina for a three-day weekend. Should be fun.

Atlanta's a pretty decent airport. It's easy to get around, with a lot less walking than DFW. If I recall, the int'l section of this airport is phenomenal, but obviously I'm not there tonight.

A couple of quick send-offs for the day, as this will be one of my last posts tonight.

Delta Flight 1545 service to Atlanta
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayNext stop ATL. Looks like this flight is leaving fairly on time, so the night is looking good. The first flight is always the key to these things after all.

Kansas City was beautiful today. Sunny and cool, with a slight breeze all day. I ate at Dick Clark's American Bandsatnd Grill for the first time. Actually pretty good food. It's got a similar schtick to Planet Hollywood or Hard Rock Cafe, but it's not as offensively expensive, and it feels a little more homegrown. The pictures are a little too cluttered, and there's a few too many solo pics of DC himself. But I like that, as it doesn't feel quite as commercial as the others.

I got stuck with a middle seat on this flight, which I hate, but I'm in an exit row, so there's a lot more legroom than usual. (I am really looking forward to the free segment upgrades coming my way.)

MCI...and I don't mean the phone company
this picture is owned by the submitter. contact submitter for permission before using it in any wayI'm sitting in Kansas City International airport. One hour and ten minutes to my flight and I need something to drink. Anything. Please.

Here's my main beef with the Kansas Airport. The terminal is set up so that there is a security checkpoint for each two or three gates. Each of these areas of two to three gates is self contained. All of the food shops are outside of these areas. Thus the question becomes which need is stronger?:

A) The Liquid Factor: the need for liquid/hydrating sustenance

B) The Lazy Factor: the lack of appeal in going through the damned security line again with all of my gear (interesting sidenote: when I showed the security guard my itinerary, to get through the checkpoint, he couldn't figure it out. He asked me if I was going to Dallas. I replied in the negative, stating instead that I was going to Atlanta. He then said, "okay, I trust you", handed me my itinerary, and sent me through the checkpoint. I think he was thirteen.)

I haven't yet decided which factor will win in the end, but right now I'm definitely being lazy.

'Go, Speed Racer!'
